It seems like school is beginning earlier and earlier for students each year. But do not fret – there is still plenty of time for youth to enjoy summer fun and family-friendly activities.
Each summer the Marion County Commission on Youth (MCCOY) publishes the Youth Activities Directory (YAD), filled with hundreds of organizations and programs that offer activities for youth and families to participate in, which encourage development and growth for young people.
In the 2010 YAD, you will find listings for volunteer opportunities, museums, indoor and outdoor programs, career planning opportunities and much more. YAD has more than 80 pages filled with programs, contact information and descriptions for summer programs and camps, out of school time, mentoring programs, life skills, leadership and volunteer, family support and services, family fun, and a listing of organization that serve Spanish speaking individuals.
To download an electronic copy of YAD, click here. To order several copies of YAD to distribute at schools, day cares, or other youth serving agencies, fill out the attached request form and mail to Juli Van Wyk at juli.vanwyk@mccoyouth.org.org or call for more information at 317-921-1266.
Now that, that’s covered, all that’s left to do is go out, pick your youth activities, and have fun!
